About Me

Hello! My name is Maria and I come from Asturias, a beautiful region on the north coast of Spain. I attended university in Oviedo, the region's capital city, where I did my teacher training, specialising in Spanish and English. I spent several years working as a teacher of English in Spain. In 1996 I came to live in Plymouth and later on I got the QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) in England. Since then, I have worked in several secondary schools and in Adult Education in Devon and Cornwall, as well as undertaking private tuition. I have also worked as an Associate Lecturer at Plymouth University.

In 2013 I became an accredited examiner for the Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language (A1 to C2) and since then have been conducting the exams at Plymouth University, as well as helping private students prepare to enter them. I am also fully familiar with the GCSE and A level requirements for all exam boards.

I have a friendly personality and I am very passionate about my language and culture. I have a very interactive teaching style and I firmly believe learning should be fun.
